This page will act as your complete guide to darts betting sites. Darts is the quintessential pub game that’s become a major sport in the UK. Darts is also popular in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Australia, the USA, Canada and Ireland. Betting on the sport is also a popular pastime in the UK, especially during the PDC and WDF World Championships and the PDC Premier League, currently sponsored by BetMGM.

Five of the Best Darts Betting Sites

We’ve stood up to the oche and flung our warm-up arrows at the board. Now it’s time to get to know the best darts betting sites currently available in the UK. We outline what makes them hit the bullseye time after time, along with a little bit about them.

1. BetMGM – 2024 Sponsors of the PDC Premier League

BetMGM may be a new name over here, but people in the US are already very familiar with this sports betting site. Unlike the UK, sports betting is still relatively new in the US, and BetMGM are one of the few legal sports betting operators in the States, and a very successful one too. Since 2023 the site has been attempting to break into the UK betting markets, although LeoVegas run the UK version of BetMGM.

BetMGM Darts Betting

Very early in 2024, BetMGM were unveiled as the new sponsors of the PDC Premier League, the 20th staging of the annual darts showcase that runs each year from February to May and with a prize fund of £1 million. As usual, the Premier League will see the world’s best players compete, including darts superstars Michael van Gerwen and Peter Wright plus relative newcomers such as Luke Humpries and Luke Littler.

What We Like:

  • 2024 sponsors of the PDC Darts Premier League
  • Decent darts coverage
  • Play the football Golden Goals game for free

Room for Improvement:

  • Darts coverage could be better

2. Betfred – Offers ‘Luke Littler Specials’ throughout 2024

Betfred have always been supporters of darts. Since 2019 they have been the sponsors of the World Matchplay tournament, one part of the darts ‘Triple Crown’ (the others being the PDC World Championship and the PDC Premier League). They are also one of the few UK sports betting sites to offer virtual darts (the other being Bet365).

Betfred Darts Betting

To add to their commitment to darts, early in 2024 Betfred announced that they would, throughout the darts calendar year, be offering special odds deals on Luke Littler, the 16-year-old who followed up his PDC World Championship final appearance by winning the first main darts event of the season, the Bahrain Open. They even offered special odds on Littler winning the 2024 Sports Personality of the Year!

What We Like:

  • Luke Littler specials throughout the 2024 darts calendar
  • Sponsors of the PDC World Matchplay tournament
  • One of the few bookies to have virtual darts

Room for Improvement:

  • Betting site remains a bit messy

3. Bet365 – ‘Bet Boost’ Available for All Major Darts Tournaments

Bet365 should need absolutely no introduction, as it’s the biggest (in terms of bets placed) overall betting site in the UK. Sadly though, Bet365 has not seen fit to ever sponsor darts, choosing instead to concentrate on sponsoring horse racing, greyhounds, boxing and bet365 CEO Denise Coates’s favourite football team, Stoke City. Darts coverage at Bet365 is still pretty decent though, and it has virtual darts betting among its virtual options.

Bet365 Darts Betting

We’ve placed bet365 at number three on our list of the best darts betting sites in the UK because it has more betting markets than most when it comes to darts. If there is some outcome of any match you want to wager upon, more than likely it is available at bet365. It also covers more minor darts tournaments than most sites too, so it’s a real boon for people who want to bet on darts more than any other sport.

What We Like:

  • Covers all darts competitions, major and minor
  • Has more markets available than most other sites
  • Bet at ‘The Gatehouse’, virtual darts

Room for Improvement:

  • Site design is dull

4. SpreadEx – Spread Betting and Fixed Odds Betting for Darts

Darts and Snooker are possibly the only sports that rely on numbers and practically nothing else – every throw of a dart (or striking of a cue ball) aims to score the highest possible. For that reason, darts is very good for spread betting, and Spreadex is the UK’s leading spreading betting site. The available spreads when it comes to darts are phenomenal – total 180s, total 180s per player, checkout ton-ups, checkout ton or bust, total missed doubles. If you can measure it, then you can probably bet on it!

Spreadex Darts Betting

Of course, not everything is rosy with spread betting. If your spread bets are hopelessly wrong, then you will lose more than your stake. However, if you are very, very accurate then you will be rewarded more than fixed odds betting. Don’t worry if you want to bet on darts at SpreadEx and you don’t want to spread bet, as fixed odds betting is available too!

What We Like:

  • The best site bar none for darts spread betting
  • Fixed odds darts betting is available too
  • Unbelievable array of spread betting options

Room for Improvement:

  • Spread betting is not for everyone

5. Coral – Decent Range of Darts Specials Always Available

Coral are another UK bookmaker that has always been enthusiastic about darts. They have sponsored many leading darts tournaments in the past, and for five years they sponsored the UK Open. They do not currently sponsor any darts competitions, but who knows in the immediate future? Darts does have its own news section at Coral but we are disappointed by the number of pieces within this section that we found. They did pick out Luke Littler as ‘one to watch’ at the 2024 PDC World Championships though, which showed they have an expert eye!

Coral Darts Betting

One thing that Coral does have over many other sites on our best darts bet in play sites is live streaming of matches. You won’t be able to watch major events though as they no doubt will be broadcast on Sky Sports, but games from the MODUS online dart league are available to stream. You can watch the games unfold and then follow your darts in-play betting predictions accordingly.

What We Like:

  • Some live streaming, MODUS events
  • Decent odds
  • Darts has its own news section

Room for Improvement:

  • Currently no darts sponsorship deals

How We Select the Best Sites to Bet on Darts

We’ve made our choices for the leading darts betting sites in the UK, but you may be wondering how we have come up with that list. Read on, and you will be enlightened!

Range of Darts Betting Markets

While we do not expect to enjoy the same kind of coverage at darts betting sites as we might when betting on horse racing or football, there is plenty still to bet on when it comes to chaps (and Fallon Sherrock) standing up to the oche. We look through a site’s complete range of available betting markets when it comes to darts, and we champion sites that offer plenty more than simply betting on the winner of each match or tournament.

Bonuses and Promotions for Darts Bettors

The current popularity of darts has accelerated since the lockdown years to almost match the Eric Bristow and Bullseye-driven heyday of the 1980s (and indeed, early in 2024 ITV announced Bullseye’s potential return), meaning betting on darts has never been so popular. That’s why we look for specials and promotions are are uniquely created for darts bettors to enhance their darts betting experience, and hopefully enhance winnings too.

Competitive Darts Betting Odds

Competitive odds are important when it comes to any bet, as the level of the odds determines the levels of winnings. That’s why we always look at the betting odds for darts as offered by the leading sports betting sites in the UK. If we find a site that doesn’t offer competitive odds, then we don’t think highly of them enough for them to make our list of recommendations.

Live Streaming and Virtual Darts

Sadly, the upsurge in the popularity of darts since 2020 has meant less live streaming at sports betting sites. That’s because even minor events are selected for TV coverage, usually by Sky. However, live streaming is available at some sites, and it’s a major plus point for sites that stream darts. We also like to see virtual darts betting available, although we admit that’s something of a rare find!

Best Darts Betting Offers

Here are three current offers for betting on the arrows. Please note that such offers change quickly, so always check the sites mentioned below to see if such offers are still available, or if new ones have replaced them.

Paddy Power PDC World Darts Championship Offer

paddy powerThe 2024 PDC World Championship darts were sponsored by Paddy Power and it seems likely the Irish bookie will sponsor the 2025 event too, which begins in December 2024! For 2024 Paddy Power offered a special bonus and not one just for darts players! You had to make a minimum £10 deposit and bet at odds of 1/2 at least. Once that bet was settled, £40 in free bets were yours, valid for 30 days. Check out any Paddy Power deals once the 2025 version of the PDC World Championships approaches.

Betfred 2024 Luke Littler Specials

logo betfred1

Luke Littler took both the darts world and the sports world by storm towards the end of 2023. Despite only being sixteen years old, Littler stormed to the final of the PDC World Championships before being beaten by Luke Humpries. To prove this was no one-off, Littler then won the Bahrain Open. Betfred are offering specials on Luke Little throughout 2024, so no matter the tournament, check Betfred for specials. For example, they were offering 4/1 on him winning the Betfred World Matchplay, with other sites only offering 3/1 or less.

William Hill Handicap Markets

William HillNot a darts promotion as such, but you will find that William Hill is very generous when it comes to handicap markets and darts. If you know your arrows, then you can get some decent prices here. With handicap betting, you will find the favourite is handed a -1.5 handicap, and the underdog a +1.5 handicap. Just apply the handicap to what you think the final leg score will be, and bet accordingly!

Popular Darts Betting Events

If you want to partake in darts betting, then you are going to need to understand a little about the darts calendar. As darts is an indoor sport, the darts calendar runs all year round. Below you will find details about the major darts competitions ideal for all your darts bets.

🎯PDC World Darts Championship

The World Darts Championship was first organized by the British Darts Organisation (BDO) in 1978. This tournament was the highlight of the darts calendar until 1993 when a group of 16 players left the BDO to form the World Darts Council, which later became the Professional Darts Corporation. Following the demise of the BDO in 2020, the PDC World Darts Championship became the globe’s premier darts competition.

The PDC World Darts Championship takes place over Christmas and the New Year and has been held at Alexandra Palace in London since 2008. The early years of the competition were dominated by Phil Taylor, who won 14 of the first 20 titles. The competition enjoyed renewed interest in 2024 thanks to the exploits of 16-year-old Luke Littler, who reached the final only to be beaten by first-time winner Luke Humphries.

🎯UK Open

Founded in 2003, the UK Open is a major darts ranking competition that was first held at the Reebok stadium in Bolton but moved to Butlins in Minehead in 2014. The competition is open to any darts player, with no seeding throughout, and usually takes place in June. The tournament has been won a record five times by Phil Taylor, with Michael van Gerwen and James Wade winning it three times each.

🎯World MatchPlay

Currently sponsored by Betfred, the World MatchPlay tournament has been played at the Empress Ballroom in Blackpool since 1994 (except in 2020 when it moved to Milton Keynes because of COVID). Like the PDC Championship, the early years of the World MatchPlay were dominated by Phil Taylor, who won 15 out of the first 21 tournaments. No player now though has retained the title since Michael van Gerwen in 2016. The competition usually takes place in July.

🎯World Grand Prix

Established in 1998, this PDC-run tournament has been played at venues in Dublin, Leicester, Kent, Rosslare and Coventry. This event is somewhat unique as it follows traditional UK rules in that players must start and finish on a double. Phil Taylor (surprise, surprise) is the most successful competitor, winning eleven tournaments. Michael van Gerwin has won it six times. The tournament currently takes place in October.

🎯Grand Slam of Darts

Another PDC-run tournament, the Grand Slam of Darts is competed for each year in November. It was been run at various venues in Wolverhampton, aside from the 2020 closed-doors COVID-curtailed competition in Coventry. This used to be one of the few competitions where PDC and BDO players could mix, but that ceased when the BDO collapsed. Phil Taylor has won it the most times, with six wins.

🎯Players Championship Finals

Created in 2009, the idea of the Players Championship finals was to have a tournament featuring the World’s top 32 ranked players. In 2016 it was increased to the top 64. This competition is also run at Butlins in Minehead, usually every November. Michael van Gerwen is the most successful competitor, winning the tournament seven times.

🎯Premier League

The PDC runs the darts Premier League from February to May each year across various UK and European venues and has done so since 2005. Eight selected players do battle on a league basis until the finals, where the top four play each other in the semi-finals and the final. The players are selected purely on merit, hence Luke Littler’s (world number 31) selection in 2024. Michael van Gerwen has the most wins at seven, with Phil Taylor just a little behind on six.

🎯European Championships

This competition matches up the top UK players from the PDS Order of Merit with the leading non-UK players on the PDC European Tour. The competition is now usually played in October and November each year. It is typically played in Germany, although it has also been played in the Netherlands, Belgium and Austria. It has been dominated by UK players aside from a four-year spell where it was won by the Netherlands’ Michael van Gerwen.

🎯World Series of Darts

This is a series of PDC competitions that are brought together under the ‘World Series of Darts’ banner. The entire competition has included tournaments in Dubai, Australia, Singapore, Japan, New Zealand, China, the USA, Germany, Denmark, the Netherlands, Bahrain and Poland. The most successful players overall in the series then qualify for the World Series of Darts finals, which take place at a different venue each year. Michael van Gerwen has won the most individual titles overall, at nineteen.

🎯World Cup of Darts

The PDC World Cup of Darts is the sport’s leading team darts tournament. It was first held in 2010 and won by the Netherlands (Raymond van Barneveld and Co Stompe). It has been won four times by England (Phil Taylor and Adrian Lewis each time) and four times by the Netherlands (Michael van Gerwen and Raymond van Barneveld each time aside from that initial triumph).

🎯The Masters

Inaugurated in 2013, the Masters is a non-ranking darts tournament that is the first major tournament to be played after the PDC Championship. It features the top 24 players from the previous year’s PDC Order of Merit. It has been held at various venues but has now settled at the Marshall Arena in Milton Keynes. The Darts Masters has been dominated by Michael van Gerwen who has five wins – four more than anyone else. His last triumph though was in 2019.

The Annual Darts Calendar

There are so many darts tournaments per year that it can be impossible to keep up with them all. Here is the 2024 darts calendar, which should serve as a good indication of when tournaments usually take place in future years too.

Tournament Dates Location 2023 Winner
Premier League 1 February to 23 May Various Michael van Gerwen

Key Darts Betting Markets

There are plenty of markets when it comes to the best online darts betting sites. You are not just stuck with betting on the winner of the match. Here are all the top betting markets explained, many of which you’ll find useful for darts live betting in particular.

➡️Tournament Winner

Barely needs any explanation – a bet on the winner of a darts competition. It’s worth noting that outright odds at Darts World Championship betting sites have become considerably more attractive since the end of Phil Taylor’s dominance.

➡️Match Winner

As well as the overall winner of the tournament, you can place a dart bet on the winner of any individual match. Check the number of legs per match though, as they will vary per competition and round.

➡️Correct Score

You should always be able to bet on the correct score in terms of legs for any darts match. For example, if the winner of a match is the first to six legs, then you can bet on the correct score being 6-5, 6-4, 6-3 and so on. You must also choose the winner of the match.

➡️Total Match 180s

This is another easy-to-understand bet – you just wager upon the number of maximums that will be thrown during the game on an over/under basis.

➡️Highest Checkout Matchbet

With this bet, you wager upon the player you think will score the highest checkout during a match. Remember, the highest possible checkout is 170.

➡️Bullseye Match Finish

Just to remind you, the bullseye counts as a double in darts. You can bet on the match finishing with a bull finish. Also, you can bet on the first leg ending with a bull finish, or any leg, or both the first leg and the final leg. You can also bet on the total number of bullseye finishes in a match, and on a per-player basis.

➡️Other Darts Bets

There are several other bet on darts options aside from the popular ones mentioned above. Let’s take a look at them now.

  • Match Double/Treble – two or three bets combined, such as match winner, most 180s, highest checkout and most 100+ checkouts.
  • Handicap 2-Way – bet on the match if a handicap usually (+1.5 or -1.5) is added to one of the competitor’s leg score. Alternative handicaps are available too.
  • Total Legs/Alternative Total Legs – total legs in a match, over/under. Usually 9.5 but other over/unders are available.
  • Most 180s/Handicap 180s/Player 180s/Alternative Player 180s – bet on the player to score the most 180s, with a handicap available. Also, bet on the number (over/under) of 180s a player will hit during a match – usually over/under 2.5/3.5 with alternatives available.
  • 170 Finish/9 Dart Finish in Match – bet on a player finishing on 170 during the match, or hitting 501 in the minimum number of darts.
  • First 180 – a bet on which player will score the first 180 during a match.
  • First/Final Leg Total Checkout – bet on the winning checkout in the first or final leg, usually on a 40 or less/41 or more basis.
  • First/Final League Winning Double Colour – bet on the colour of the winning double in the first or the final leg – red or green. Note that double 16 is green!
  • First Set of Darts – a wager on the first score of the match. There are usually three options – 89 or less, 90 to 100 inclusive or 101 or more.
  • Lead/Score After 4 Legs – place a bet on the player who is leading after (usually) four legs.
  • Total 100+ Checkouts/Player Total 100+ Checkouts – total number of 100+ checkouts, per match or per player. There are usually a range of options – 0, 1+, 2+ and so on.
  • Double Result – kind of the same as HT/FT in football. Bet on a player to be leading after four legs, and to win the match.
  • Player With First 100+ Checkout – wager on the player you think will be the first to land a checkout that’s over 100.

Darts Live Betting and Streaming

Darts appeared to have its heyday in the 1980s – the days of Eric Bristow, Jocky Wilson, John Lowe and Bullseye – before all but disappearing off TV screens by 2010. Since the mid-2010s darts has experienced a real resurgence, and once again is a popular viewing pastime.

Does this mean you can livestream darts at sports betting sites? Well, yes and no. Sky Sports is the home of broadcast darts, and all major PDC tournaments are broadcast live meaning you won’t find them live-streamed at even the best darts betting sites in the UK. However, live streaming of ‘lesser’ tournaments is possible at many UK online tournaments and even tournaments where no audience is present.

Darts Bet in Play Markets

Darts is extremely effective as a live betting option and all sports betting sites in the UK permit darts in-play betting. The game of darts is one of the few sports (snooker being another one) where one competitor cannot do anything to thwart another, so it’s just a case of the relentless hitting of those treble twenties and doubles when required.

If you are watching a darts match live, it makes sense (if you are a betting person) to think about darts live betting. A player can suddenly gain confidence if they are hitting 60 regularly and finding the double with ease. Once a player is ‘in the zone’ their opponents can seemingly do nothing to stop them, as happened in the 2024 PDC World Championship when Luke Humphries powered past namesake Littler 7-4 after being 4-2 down.

Alternatively, leading players can fall foul of the jitters. For example, John Part was 7-1 and 10-6 up against Phil Taylor in the last sixteen of the 2005 UK Open, but couldn’t make it to the finish line and lost 11-10. Upsets in darts happen frequently too – in the 2024 PDC World Championship seeds Peter Wright (4), Nathan Aspinall (6), Danny Noppert (7), Michael van Gerwen (2) and Gerwyn Price (5) were all knocked out by much lower ranked-players.

Darts Betting Tips and Strategies

Now you know how you can bet on darts, you may be asking yourself what’s the best way of going about it? Do you simply bet on the favourites, or back the underdog? Are bets such as the player first with a 100+ check out worth it or are they just a waste of your betting bankroll? Read on for a handful of helpful darts tips for betting.

  1. Short Games = Upsets

Darts matches can be straight in number of legs, or made up of sets (each set containing a maximum of five legs). If you are going to bet on an underdog, there must be a low number of legs else the favourite is more than likely to prevail. During the World Championships, most upsets take place in the first three rounds where matches are played to a maximum of seven sets as opposed to the semis and final (11 and 13).
  2. Follow the Arrows

Keeping tabs on darts throughout the season is crucial if you want to be a successful darts bettor. For example, the non-darts world was shocked by young Luke Littler’s rise to the PDC World Final in 2024. However, darts fans had known about darts prodigy Littler since he was 13, and he’d already had an excellent 2023, winning the British Classic, the British Open, the Gibraltar Open and the Isle of Man Classic. An each-way bet on Littler at 66/1 was a PDC World Championship bet many dart fans placed!
  3. Most 180s is a Good Bet

Any decent darts player should be able to hit 180 at a regular pace. Scoring high is not the be-all and end-all of darts after all, as hitting the doubles is kind of important too. At most darts Premier League betting sites the favourite of each match-up is often also the favourite when it comes to most 180s. It could be worth your while betting on the underdog for what is usually a 50:50 bet.
  4. Watch For Players Who Fade

Darts is something of a psychological sport. Many players fire out those 180s early doors but get into difficulties once the finishing line is in sight. There is no HT/FT in darts, but many betting sites will allow you to bet on who is leading at the halfway stage. If a game is tight but a fading player is paired against one of equal ability but who finishes strongly, you can back the fading player to be leading at the halfway stage but for the strong finisher to win overall.
  5. Crunch the Numbers

Okay, so darts can be a psychological test, but ultimately, it’s a game of numbers. The winner of any leg is the first to get within finishing distance of that 501 target, and then complete that total within as few darts (hopefully, three) as possible. Players can be defined by numbers: average score per dart, throw, leg, set or match, average number of finishes completed, average number of treble 20s hit. There is no end to the number of potential statistics you have at your disposal when evaluating players and defining your own darts tips for betting.

Where to Find the Best Darts Betting Odds

You can be assured of the best betting odds in darts if you stick with our recommendations. These betting sites have been hand-picked for many reasons, and their competitive darts betting odds is one of them. All sports betting sites have detailed processes for coming up with their odds, and they also monitor other sites to make sure their odds remain competitive.

As an illustration, we’ve taken three competitors for the BetMGM Premier League Darts 2024 market and given the odds offered by three of our best darts betting sites in the UK (as of 09:30 GMT, 11/03/24).

Betting Site Michael van Gerwen Luke Littler Luke Humphries
BetMGM 5/2 3/1 11/4
Betfred 12/5 3/1 11/4
Bet365 12/5 3/1 11/4

Darts Betting on Mobile

Betting on darts via your phone or tablet is not only possible, it’s also preferable. Only a small number of us intersect with the internet these days via anything other than a mobile device, so it makes sense that you place your darts bets by mobile for the sake of convenience, at the least.

You will be able to place any darts bet you choose via your iOS or Android-powered device. You will also be able to place live bets and even watch live streaming where it is available. Some apps you can download, while others can only be used within a mobile browser. These apps though offer not much more than convenience, as sites no longer offer incentives for users to download and install them as they assume their site users will do anyway.

Concise Dictionary of Darts Terms

Darts terminology is pretty much common sense as it’s a simple game. We have come up with a lexicon of darts terms anyway, simply to explain away any confusion you may have while you are watching or betting on darts.

Term Definition
Bull/Bullseye The very centre of the target, worth 50. Qualifies as a double.
Bust When a player scores more than required. Their throw is over, and their score is reset back to their pre-bust total.
Bounce Out A dart that hits the wire/another dart and bounces out. Scores zero.
Check Out The score (in three darts or less) that is needed to win the game. Can only be a score that includes a double as the final throw.
Cover Shot Hitting a score that is lower than the maximum available as other darts obscure the target.
Double Scores on the outer ring, worth twice a single
Leg A single ‘game’. A match or set consists of multiple legs.
Oche The line from which darts players throw.
Set A number of legs. The first player to win a specific number of sets wins the match.
Treble Scores on the inner ring, worth three times a single.
Bed Any specific section of a dart board.
Nine-darter Reaching 501 in nine darts, the quickest win possible. 180, 180 then T17 T18 and D18 is one possible nine-darter.
Break Winning a leg after throwing second.
Double Top(s) Double 20.
Madhouse Double 1.
Shanghai Hitting the single, double and treble of the same number in the same throw.
Ton Scoring 100, usually T20 S20 S20.

One Hundred and Eighty!

We have now reached the end of our expert evaluation of the best darts betting sites in the UK. You should now have the confidence to step up to the oche and place your darts bet in play or pre-event, and to know where to get the best odds. You should of course be able to stream darts too at some betting sites.

Let’s hope your darts bets meet with success, and don’t bounce out after hitting the wire.
