Euro 2024 Winner Odds

Euro 2024 at a Glance

The European Championship was first played in 1960 and takes place every four years. It is organised by the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) and is commonly referred to as the UEFA Euro Cup, the UEFA Cup or simply the Euros.

Each edition of the Euros sees UEFA men’s national teams compete for the right to lift the European Championship trophy. Host nations automatically qualify for the tournament, but all others have to play their way in via qualifiers.

This is a very popular tournament and is second only to the World Cup as far as the number of global spectators is concerned. Euro 2020 was reported to have been watched by a total audience of five billion viewers, and the figures for Euro 2016 weren’t much smaller.

Euro 2024 will be hosted by Germany. The tournament is scheduled to start on Friday, 14 June, and to conclude on Sunday, 14 July.

Euro 2024 Betting Preview

While there will be 24 teams competing in the UEFA Euro Cup competition, only a handful of them can be considered strong favourites to win. Let’s take a look at each one in order of the European Championship odds being offered at the time of this preview being written:

England

England

Those of us who enjoy betting on football won’t need reminding that England only just missed out on winning Euro 2020, having been beaten by Italy on penalties. That was the first time England had made it all the way to the final match of the tournament, and they will be doing their utmost to win the championship for the first time in 2024. Bookmakers made England the early favourites to win, so the odds suggest that they’ve got a good chance of doing just that.

France

FranceOne team that already knows what it’s like to win the UEFA Euro Cup is France. They’ve achieved the feat twice, in 1984 and 2000. They also went close as the hosts in Euro 2016 but ended up losing to Portugal (the final score was 1-0) at the Stade de France. France clearly has the proven ability to win this competition, and that’s reflected in their  Euro 2024 betting odds.

Germany

GermanyGermany has won the Euros three times previously, in 1972, 1980 and 1996. UK fans who are old enough will remember that Germany beat England in the semi-finals in 1996 (again, on penalties). Yes, we’re holding a grudge, but we can’t fault Germany’s ability in this competition. They have made it through to the semi-finals nine times, and it wouldn’t be a shock to see them make it a tenth time this year.

Spain

SpainAnother country that has won the Euros three times is Spain. They first did the business way back in 1964, and they repeated the feat in 2008 and 2012. That makes Spain the only country to win the Euro Cup twice in a row. They also reached the semi-finals in Euro 2020 and were drawn 1-1 with Italy after extra time. Unfortunately, they lost by penalties, so this is another team that will be looking to fare better at UEFA Euro 2024.

Portugal

PortugalPortugal has won this tournament once. They made it to the final in 2004 but were beaten by Greece (final score 1-2). Their success came in 2016 when beating the host nation, France. Portugal has reached the semi-finals or better five times in total, so they certainly know how to make progress in the Euros. Whether they will go all the way in Euro 2024 remains to be seen.

Euro 2024 Betting: Qualification Path Markets

We said earlier that 12 teams will compete for one of the last three slots in the Euro 2024 competition via play-offs in March. Those 12 teams have been grouped into three qualification paths. Each path will have a semi-final and a final. The winner of each path will then proceed to the Euros proper. Euro 2024 Betting: Golden Boot

The Golden Boot Euro 2024 betting market requires you to predict which player will score the most goals in the competition. Previous winners have included Cristiano Ronaldo in 2020, Fernando Torres in 2012 and England’s own Alan Shearer in 1996.

Euro 2024 Betting: Player of the Tournament

While the winner of the Golden Boot is determined by a quantifiable achievement (the number of goals scored), the Player of the Tournament is determined by the UEFA Technical Observer panel. That makes it a less attractive Euro betting market for some punters, but it can be fun to try and predict which player will be awarded the Golden Ball.

Euro 2024 Betting: Young Player of the Tournament

This Euros betting market is similar to the previous one. The big difference here is that the Young Player of the Tournament award can only be given to a Euro football player who was 21 or younger at the start of the tournament year. Again, it’s decided by the UEFA Technical Observer panel.

Euro 2024 Betting: Other Markets

We’ve looked at the main Euro 2024 betting markets for the tournament as a whole, but there's even more action available when you bet on individual matches. Here are some of the most popular match betting markets to consider:

  1. Match Result

    This is where you bet on the 1X2 result and predict whether a match will end as a home win, a draw, or an away win. Bear in mind that match result markets (and the other markets discussed in this section) are normally settled according to the result at the end of regular time. That means any goals that are scored during extra time – if it is played – won’t count as far as your bet is concerned.

  2. Double Result (HT/FT)

    Here you bet on both the half-time result and the full-time result. Because you’re making two predictions about the match, the Euro 2024 betting odds will be better in this market than in the previous one. Of course, you will have to get both predictions right for the bet to win.

  3. Correct Score

    If you’re looking for even bigger Euro betting odds, you might want to look at the correct score markets. These require you to predict the actual full-time score of a match, such as a 2-1 win for the home team, a 1-1 draw or a 0-1 win for the away team. This is a lot more difficult than predicting the overall result of a match, but you’ll get a very decent payout if you succeed.

  4. Total Goals

    When you want to bet on a match, and you have no idea which team you think will win, the Total Goals market might come in handy. Here you are betting on how many goals you think will be scored in total in a match. Depending on who you bet with, you can bet on a specific number of goals or simply bet that there will be over or under a number of goals stated by the bookmaker.

  5. Double Chance

    We know that a match can result in a home win (1), a draw (X) or an away win (2), and the Double Chance market lets you bet on two of those outcomes. If either one is correct, the bet will be settled as a winner. For example, if you were to bet 1X, it will win if the match results in either a home win or a draw. This makes winning a lot easier, but the Euros odds you’ll get will be lower to reflect your better chances.

  6. Draw No Bet

    This betting market also offers lower odds than a regular Match Result market. That’s because your stake will be refunded if the match ends in a draw when the full-time whistle is blown. You wouldn’t want to bet in this market if you predict a draw, of course. But if you want to bet on the home or away win and get your money back if a draw occurs, this type of bet is perfect.   7. Asian Handicap

    Asian handicap markets impose a theoretical handicap on the team that’s favourite to win. That levels up the odds a bit and can make betting on either team more attractive.   8. First Goalscorer

    The last betting market that we’ll highlight here requires you to predict which player will score the first goal in a match. The odds you get will depend on the bookmaker’s own estimation of the probabilities, as well as common sense. For example, a striker will normally be offered at a much shorter price than a defender.
