What is a Yankee Bet?
The Yankee is one of the most popular multiple bets around. It’s offered at most of the safest betting sites in the UK and allows you to bet on four selections for doubles, trebles and one fourfold accumulator.
The Yankee will cost you 11 bets (22 if you want to bet each way). Only two winners are needed to secure a return from the bookie. If you get three or four successful selections, more of your Yankee bets will provide a return, as illustrated below:

This type of bet is a big favourite of horse racing fans, but it’s also common among those who bet on football and other sports. You can bet on events of the same type (such as four matches in the English Premier League) or mix and match bets on golf, tennis, greyhound racing and other sports, as you prefer. A full discussion of this wager can be found on our dedicated Yankee Bet page.
How to Use Our Yankee Bet Calculator
Our Yankee betting calculator has been designed to be as user-friendly as possible. All it requires to work out your returns are a few basic details about your selections. Follow the steps below, and you’ll have a Total Returns figure in next to no time:
Activate Yankee Bet Mode
The calculator app on this page has multiple modes. To use it as a Yankee bet calculator, change the default Single & Each Way mode to Yankee using the pulldown menu provided. If you want to use the app as an each-way Yankee calculator (which can be particularly useful for those who like to spend time at horse racing betting sites and want a Yankee horse bet calculator), you can do so by selecting the Yes option under the Each Way setting.
Input Your Unit Stake
Your unit stake is the amount of money you have bet on each part of the Yankee. For example, if you have placed a £1 Yankee with a total cost of £11, you would enter 1 in the Unit Stake field. The overall outlay of £11 (or £22 for an each-way Yankee) would then be displayed in the Total Stake window.
Choose the Odds Format
You will need to enter the odds for each of your selections in the next step. But first, you should choose what format you want to use to do that. Your options are fractional, decimal or American. Make your selection via the pulldown menu, and the odds fields of the Yankee calculator will be set up to match your preference.
Provide the Betting Odds
Now you can enter the odds for your Yankee bets into the Odds fields. Fractional odds have two fields each – one for each side of the fraction. Yankee calculator decimal and American formats have just one Odds field for each selection.
Select the Place Term
An additional Place Term field will also be visible if you are using the app as an EW Yankee calculator. You should use this to select the place term for each selection. This will typically be 1/4 or 1/5 the odds, but other options are available via the pulldown menu if you need them.
Provide the Results
All that remains for you to do as far as inputting information is concerned is to provide the results of your bets. You can use the pulldown menu alongside each selection to select whether it Won, Placed or Lost. Other options here, should you need them, include Dead Heat and Void. You can also select a Rule 4 deduction for any selection if that is relevant. If it isn’t, you can ignore that field.
Calculate Your Yankee Returns
At this point, it’s a good idea to look over the details you have entered to ensure no mistakes have been made. If you’re happy that everything looks as it should, click the Calculate button. Our Yankee odds calculator will then crunch the numbers and provide you with your Total Return and Total Profit figures.
Other Free Bet Calculators
With our Yankee calculator, bet returns can be figured out in less time than it takes to say ‘Yankee calc’. If you’d also like to work out returns for other types of bets, such as trebles, accumulators and Lucky 15s, be sure to take a look at our full range of bet calculator apps, all of which are completely free to use.
FAQs
How many bets is a Yankee?
A Yankee comprises 11 bets or 22 if you are betting on selections each way. It covers four selections for six doubles, four trebles and one fourfold accumulator. With so many bets being involved, it makes sense to use our free Yankee bet calculator to figure out what you can expect to get back from the bookie.
How are Yankee bets calculated?
Without a Yankee calculator, bet returns take longer to work out. You first need to calculate the returns for each winning double and treble, as well as the fourfold accumulator. Then you need to add all those returns together to arrive at your overall return. Our Yankee bet page (link provided earlier in this guide) explains how to work out a Yankee bet in detail. It will even take you through a full Yankee bet example.
How much does a 20p each-way Yankee cost?
Because an each-way Yankee costs 22 bets, a 20p each-way Yankee would cost 22 x 20p = £4.40. A 50p each-way Yankee would cost £11, a £1 each-way Yankee would cost £22, and so on.
Which is better – a Yankee bet or Lucky 15?
A Lucky 15 is very similar to a Yankee, but it also covers your four selections for four singles. That brings the cost up to 15 bets instead of 11 (30 bets for an each-way Lucky 15). We prefer the Yankee because it keeps costs down, and a single winner wouldn’t make up for the extra expense unless its odds were greater than 3/1.
Is your Yankee calculator free?
Yes. This is a free bet calculator. Yankee bettors can use it as instructed as often as needed to work out potential or actual profits, as required.
